2008 Gsxr 1000 Top Speed

Am Curious Does A Gsxr 1000 Have A Speed Limiter, And If So How Fast Have You Been????? Like I SAID AM Just Curious. I HEAR IT STOP AT ABOUT 185. IS THAT TRUE?

They are set to limit at a certain RPM in 6th gear. With stock gearing, it is designed to be at 300 kph, or 186.41 mph.
TRE will eliminate this, because it thinks its always in 5th gear, which is unrestricted.

Thank you, but do you think with some work done to a bike like 3mm kit and
some reprogramming that hit 200 mph, not saying am do it ha ha LOL JUST CURIOUS i think a 1000 will. WHAT you think?

There have been a few riders do the gps reading for top speed with the TRE installed....
Can't remember how fast they got tho.
I wanna say it was just under 200mph.
I remember a huge debate on how much power and/or aerodynamics it takes to reach speeds over 200.

178-182 stock .........youll need about 200 rwhp to get close to 200 mph

It's really no big deal, been there done that and got away, anything past 250 and who gives a fuck!

Down the chute at Phillip Island my speedo is indicating 299 kph but the still the bike must go faster because the rpm builds another 1000 rpm before I shut off for turn one.
I think there is a fair amount of speedo error though.

i understand you might not ride in the us, but we use mph here, and to limit the amount of confusion you just gave to all the new guys, 299kph=185mph. with out a tre your bike wont go faster than that. the most i ever saw on the speedo was 186. ill put my gps on it tonight and run up ct rte 11, ill fold the mirrors in too..(i find it goes faster when i do this) ill post pics in the morning. if i live that is.:eek

Don't worry new guy... There are a bunch of guys on here that have non brain stimulating jobs and sit here and post all day. They tell you to go do research though past threads instead of asking the question yourself and getting a real answer they give you a smartass reply. We are not all assholes here. Ive pinned the speedo on multiple 1000s 05/06 at 186. Mine -1 in the front displays 186 in 5th gear.
